I usually dont like to post private on the web , but once in awhile . typing things out helps healing.

I lost my best friend of 13 yrs. Me and my wife both feel the loss greatly. He watched my children grow to their now ages of 10 and 11.
We spent lot of time together, almost inseparatable . Fishing . Hiking, shooting, camping w/ friends , who would always ask ,where he was and give him a grand welcome. . Hanging out. Family gatherings and holidays. All who met him loved him in his kind nature , Always the greeter w/ a smile. never showing anger. Very few did he question their nature, and when did , with a keen eye.
Beat a few hard diseases, . Got lost for 2 weeks once . Found him beatin by wind and thin, had a stoke too, but once again brought him back to health.Even the doctors would remark at how young he looked for his age.
What got him was the big " C" cancer. If not , he could have easily had many strong years ahead.
Never once did he show his pain .Or any type on anger towards family and the ones he loved. I feel sad in ways that I had teated him , he never did to me .But always stood by my side without question . Loyal, strong, forgiving, w/ courage ,loving, watchful, Always faithful.

He was my Boxer.... " Baxter "

You really dont expect the hurt of a loss of a true friend , I guess I didnt.
I had to put him to rest after our long journey.
He was my 1st dog. I couldnt have asked the lord for a better dog, that he allowed me to take care of.
If you have a dog. or any animal in that matter. Take care of them, they will give back in two-fold and more.

This a pic of him at 10 yrs.

Ah man, that sucks. I have a 12 year old Healer I am dreading losing. It is so tough to loose a pet. I feel for you.....remember the good. :)

loseing a dog is a hard one to get over...mines showing his age but still acting a puppy.....sooo im in a hunt for a new pup dor his manners to rub off on...as ive found in the past...your old dog can teach and rub manner off onto a new puppy and then when the old one goes its ALOT easyer to deal with cause you have a mimic trying to cheer you up

I'm sos orry to hear that.I know it's tough to lose a pet.I to lost my friend a couple years ago to cancer.Take it easy man:(

I'm very sorry for you. I love my dogs, I think the cars would go before the dogs would. About a year ago guy at work sold his house and was looking for someone to take his dog, so I did. One of the best dogs I have ever had or known. I still can't believe he could just give him away.
Get yourself another one without feeling guilty about it, it's not the same dog but it's the same love. Excuse me, I have to go give my dogs scratches.

i inherited my Dad's dog when he passed last year. what a great comfort i didn't expect. i've fallen in love with her and can imagine the sadness you're feeling Sleeper. A12bee is right. you can never replace your buddy and a new dog will thrive on all that love you have to give. remember all dogs go to heaven.

MY uncle has an irish setter named ginger. Hes had an irish setter named ginger ever since Ive known him. I think the current one is ginger 9. We have a staffordshire terrier yea its a pit bull
