For those of you unaware the Triumph Rocket III is the biggest production bike available engine wise. It features a 2.3 liter inline 3 cylinder engine...that's alotta motor for a bike. :cool:

Also take note that the bike is able to remain upright upon throttle application even with that massive crank spinning away....

One thing I noticed watching some of the other vids, when blipping the throttle the RPM's didn't seem to happen in a snap. It was more gradual, which would help control the crankshaft inertia. It must be a long stroke engine configuration, making for a real torque monster.

Looks like it could be a real hoot to ride. Probably not as hairy as the Yamaha V-max. Those things can be a reqal monster at 197 hp. [smilie=2:

The time I rode a V-max, that thing damned near scared shit outa me when I hit the start button. I waited until 3rd gear before I gave it full throttle. :naughty:

Yeah while the V-max is a real Hot Rod, the Rocket III pulls like a freight train. I've heard the term "shifting optional" in reference to the big triple. Think of the Ford 2.3 4 cyl that powered millions of Pinto's, Mustangs, Rangers etc. Convert those CC's to three cylinders and your gonna have a big bore long stroke engine in a 800# package. Forward thrust would be invigorating indeed.
I've only had the pleasure once to see and hear one of these bikes up close. The engine looks massive and the sound is wonderfull, a melodic deep and booming exhaust note that makes a Harley sound like an old John Deere tractor.
 
so thats what it was.....last year i was sitting next to one at a light..had no badging at all..GOD what a SOUND!!!! was flat out amazing and i dont generaly like that "look"..its a lil too hogish but a VERY slick looking machine with a sound that must make a hog piss itself
 
Love the vid it's so subtle and hilariously retarded but MY GOD what a bike! When I saw that guy pop a wheely on that huge bike my jaw hit the floor. :eek:
