just when you think you've got it under control

what was supposed to be a great day today suddenly turned bad.

time is getting short for this weekends racing. the points series starts. i gotta be there. unloded cuda from the trailer at 7:30 am & drove it open headers & slicks a few blocks in the rain to finally get my aligment done. (that was kinda fun). got a call at lunch saying it was all finished but they noticed something.......grrrr what now. "one of the tabs holding your flex plate is broken & haning down" (head fell into lap) chit #!@%$%##%&&$^&$&. i have absolutly no time to pull a tranny this week. so i called a buddy of mine who owns a Mr. Transmission & he's going to try to get it ready for me. i drove cuda back loaded it in the trailer & dropped it off. they're pulling the tranny tomorrow & hope we can get a flex plate asap & bolt it back together by end of friday. (praying quietly)

Yeah...but you got that nice new truck to pull it around with. [smilie=w:

I'm sure it will be ready, pulling tranny's from old mopars is cake. [smilie=a:

71 buddy,,haha, you don't know about Mr. Transmission !.......lol....just kidding, that's a tough break Greg, I have some flexplates, nothing but stock,Ron's good buddy Donny borrowed my B & M and the large bolts,Lemme know if we can help,

Southbank Dodge should have them in stock, the MP units,I think Ron told me they did,,try Capital Dodge first, they are closer in the west end off Q'way and Carling,,,Geez, maybe Adirondack Ron has one,NIB not installed yet,he would let you replace???

Hey Chris, take a look in your stash for a smallblock flexplate with 5/16 bolts and a 10in bolt pattern, that might be the one he needs. I've got a brand new sfi plate 10in pattern with 7/16 bolts sitting on the shelf if Greg needs it with matching ARP hardware.

The other possibility is to drill out the holes and tap to 7/16 if the lugs have enough meat on them. I also have an 11in plate with 5/16 boltholes but i'm pretty sure that it won't fit his 3500 stall....those usually come in the 10in bolt pattern.

Ron

well, does his converter have large or small holes ?,If it's just a stock 10" er',then my buddy Eddy, will have about a couple hundred over in his yard,he's a tranny rebuilder for mopar's.

if you have broke or cracked one befor this i sugjest doubleing 2 up and running it that way or get a solid unit(do they still make those?)

Don't much like your feet do ya?

Ive seen those also but never tried it, you would think it would crowd the converter back into the pump too far. [smilie=e:

I thought about the pump thing, too, but I'd be more concerned about the fact that it leaves precious little bolt actually threaded into the converter... you don't have a lot of thread engagement in the first place.

You could always install longer bolts but I would also worry about the heads contacting the rear of the block, Ive had that happen on teens when the thrust bearing gets out of spec.

to get those special hardened bolts,in a longer than stock length would cost more than the correct B & M converter,IMO,

ok got CUDA back. man my heads been spinning this week. so busy. anyhow. Mr. T tried to get a hold of me late yesterday but couldn't get me so, he had a stock 10"er (XL keep yours in your pants) I started the installation. so for now i'll run with what we got & keep an eye on it.

hopefully the rainman stays away tomorrow. last chance for time trials before racing starts on sunday. HEEHAAA!!!

i wish i had a whole day just to get the car, trailer & equipment organized. but isn't that's what flying by the seat of our pants is all about. [smilie=b:
