Just a tad advanced.

Finally got a chance to see what was up with the detonation and pinging in the 66. My roomate and i put a timing light on it and it was 20 degrees advanced. [smilie=e: And when we pulled the vacuum advance hose off we noticed there was no vacuum at that particular port. [smilie=e: Switched it to another port and set it at about 9-10 degrees and voila. Stand on it as hard as you want and no more pinging and detonation. Wonder who the he!! tuned this thing before us. [smilie=e: [smilie=s:

Resto is a too strong a word for this car. :D I would use words such as "polished turd" or "cobbled together" myself. I showed it to a guy that owns a bigtime hotrod bodyshop i do clean ups for and his 1st words were "nice paint" THEN he took a look under the car. :D All i could here was "what the.....ummmmmm......wow......errrrrrr......this is.....hmmmmmm". :D

Uh, there shouldn't be any vacuum to the distributor at idle... only when the throttle is cracked open. [smilie=e: If you have vacuum to the distributor at idle, your idle will end up erratic.

When I got my LeBaron, the guy I bought it from had the initial timing set at 31? BTDC--and it had both vacuum and mechanical advance. I didn't have the guts to check what the full advance was with everything "in". He even wrote it in paint marker on top of the air cleaner. [smilie=e:

Dunno if this is right or not, but I set my timing this afternoon so I've got 30-35 degrees at 3000 RPM. Then I revved it on up to make sure that's all the advance there is. I don't have my vacuum advance connected.
