Got my 4x4's trans out...

I took 2 days off from my 96 4x4 Ram...ran into a problem with the oil filter the other day. I couldn't get the damn thing off (I didn't think I was THAT strong?) & I cut myself in the process w/the jagged filter housing metal.
I took a hammer/screwdriver & had to go along the edge by the block & 'turn' it out that way.
Then I just yanked the rest of the bolts, took out that stupid crossmember & then the block between my jack & the trans kicked out & the trans came down a little abruptly. All I could do was roll my eyes because I moved the block for clearance to pull the crossmember...but I didn't damage anything.
My front pump seal is leaking like a sieve & I tried pulling the torque converter off...lol...nope! It comes about 1/2 way off & that's as far as it will go.
Oh well....trans shop's problem.
Now I get to clean up all the ATF I spilled....looks like someone bled to death under the truck.
Hope these morons fix it correctly this time, this is the 2nd time in 6 months I've had this trans out [smilie=e:

We all know how much I love transmissions, so I feel for yah. Hope they get it right this time!!

If I were keeping the truck, I'd seriously be out looking for a donor NV4500 equipped truck.

BTW let me know when a good time is to start working on that Ferd. I might be able to swing over there this weekend if ya want [smilie=bunny.gif]

Friggin slushboxs anyway. Sometimes I just leave the oil filter on and leave that bolt in the block for removal. If the converter is stuck you are going to need more than a seal, chances are the bushing has spun and the stator support is fubar too. Good luck with it. [smilie=e:

I did that. Broke the trans/t-case adapter :(

Managed to cobble it up, with some nickel welding rod [smilie=e:

Good luck, with your trans and reinstall.
