First time track results - Burnouts > me

Bob (Prosport) was kind enough to tow me to the track today. Beautiful day...low 70s, low humidity, lots o' sunshine. After an emergency repair (second one this week - first time electrical, second time brakes) this morning, we were on our way

The car used to have an 8 inch converter and ran 11:76 with it. Now, it has a 10 inch converter. We were expecting 12:50s as a result. Well...

My first run was 12:34 at 110! This without knowing what "Pre-Stage" meant, where I was supposed to stage, how to do my burnout, etc... Man, I dorked that one up big time, but was thrilled with the time.

Second run was 12:12 at 113mph...NOW, we're getting somewhere. Bob and I were going nuts. Even my dad was psyched. Bob decides we need to pull the exhaust, but I wanted to go one more round with the mufflers in place.

Third run...11:97 at 114! Holy crap, Batman. This car really runs nice! Now I agree that we have to pull the exhaust.

Fourth run...11:88 at 114! Open exhaust (sounded awesome, BTW). I can barely contain myself. So, onto the 5th try.

Fifth run...well, I screwed it up badly. I mean everything...burnout, reaction time, shift point, took my foot off the gas too early, bounced the motor off the rev limiter, you name it. 12:34, and though I was happy with this on run 1, on run 5, I'm ticked.

Time for eliminations...Dial in at 11:85, get paired with a crappy Beretta with a 17:09. I did my only decent burnout, and had my best reaction time (.249 - yikes ), nailed my launch and my shift points and ran...11:81 at 114. I broke out. I couldn't care less. I was so fired up about that time that it didn't matter that I lost. Heck, I'm a good 60-70lbs heavier than Bob, so even with the 10 inch converter, I'm right back where he was with the 8 inch.

Bob was right. I'm HOOKED! What a great day, and a great time with my dad, Bob, Christine, and their son, Brennan. You will not meet better people than them. A big thank you to them for one of the best times I've ever had. Sorry this is so long, but I'm so excited that I can barely see straight.

Now...gotta start saving for the stroker. Oh, and learn how to do a burnout. I suck at them. Badly. Really, really awful. I even almost did one in the water box by mistake. :D

Good stuff , I think after hearing your story I'll hire a driver to test run the cuda if it's ever done, with 2 left feet & a problem chewing gum I fear I will make you look like ronnie sox, buit ya know, it's all in the thrill, the first time has to be the ultimate high!(there is another area where this same rule applies) [smilie=e: Rich.
