Went to a great show last nite (pics to follow in another post) and after the show i decided to cruise a local cruise spot (Porkys). As i arrive on the avenue i see 1/2 the St. Paul police dept. and some fire trucks and an ambulance. My 1st thought was maybe a gang related deal because this area can be nasty later at night. Then as i roll by i notice a flatbed with whats left of a black Viper on it's bed. Mind you this is a 35 MPH zone and this Viper was in pieces. I quickly pull into a Wendy's a couple blocks down where i see some friends and ask wth happended. They saw the whole thing so here it goes. Seems the kid driving the Viper has a daddy. Seems his daddy owns a local Dodge dealer. Seems he was given direct orders NOT to take the Viper. [smilie=e: Seems he failed to heed daddy's warning. [smilie=e: Seems he ingested a cocktail or 2 before hitting the avenue (literally [smilie=a: ). Seems he had a point to prove when he left the earlier mentioned Wendy's by hammering it thru the 1st 3 gears and leaving said Wendy's sideways. Seems he failed to see the semi tractor minus a trailer cruising at about 30 mph in his lane in front of him. [smilie=shocked.gif] Seems he bounced said Viper off the rear axle of the semi and he and his passenger were unceremonioulsy ejected from said Viper. [smilie=shocked.gif] Seems the Viper wasn't thru making his point as it then met a very unforgiving light pole while in mid-air and came to rest in several pieces scattered about the street and sidewalk. Seems the kid decided to run away. Seems his passenger decided to stay and rat out the driver when the authorities arrived. :D Seems as the poor passenger is sitting there people are running up to the the car and pulling pieces off of it. Stuff like headlight covers, the Viper badge from the nose etc. Ahhhhh human nature, ain't it beautiful, kids sitting there in shock and the 1st few people didin't even bother seeing if he was OK. [smilie=e: My buddies of course did and he was ok albeit a tad shaken. They found the driver later apparently because i drove by the scene some time later and saw a police car with a kid sitting on the sidewalk next to it with his head in his hands crying like a little girl. :D So kids, let this be a lesson to you. When a parent say's no, just accept it.....OK?

Good lesson, too bad no one will listen, cept us been there done that folks, at 19 your invinceable, at 25 your down to superman, at 35 you manage to eek out a rambo once in a while, at 50 you just have a ball saying I told you so! [smilie=e: Rich

But by the nature of daddy owning the dealership junior wil not be forced to pay XL. Probably just no silver spoon for a day......10 hours......oh okay just not again snook'ums .

As usual...all I can say is the human race is, as a whole - despicable.

The only thing harder to read than a single monolithic paragraph like that would be if it was in ALL CAPS.

White space is free, use it generously.

I hope he has a father with enough sense to put the screws to him for the car. My dad owned his business and has done very well for himslef. He never had any problems letting me borrow his Cadillac from the time I was 17 and freshly licensed to the times I was going two hours out of town to see a concert and had a carload of my twentysomething friends. I understood the car was my reponsibility and If anything happened I was on the hook. Maybe that's why I never stole my dads car. He should have his kid up on GTA for that. Scare the little bugger straight.

What a shame.

*types with one hand, as other tries to hold together splitting sides* :D

We've had a couple of real beauties like that, though never in a Viper.

We had a kid in his Dad's late-'70s Corvette try to outrun the police one time a few years back. The chase was right down the main drag of town.

Well, there's a mild bend in the road right downtown that, as speeds go above 60 per, becomes a truly nasty uphill off-camber left-hander. Right on the outside of that curve is the local Wendy's. When excavating the basement of Wendy's, they found a rock about the size of a Festiva, which they put in the perfect place as a defense mechanism from incoming log trucks and the like.

This kid came around that bend, the tires lost grip, and he went straight into that rock. I don't know what speed he was going, but the 'Vette vaporized and the rock landed at least 150' from where it started, in the parking lot of a different business. Miraculously, the kid was unhurt, as was Wendy's. I have no idea whatever happened to the rock after that, other than it surviving in one piece in that parking lot--I never figured out where it went.

No doubt, that rock saved his life... had it not been where it was, that kid would have been apologizing personally to Dave Thomas for what he did to his restaurant. :D

Damn good thing no one was hurt. Kid was lucky and will hopefully learn a valuable lesson from this.
As a fella his age I had my fair share of "mishaps" also. [smilie=e: Although nothing quite as dramatic as wasting a [i]Viper[/i]. [smilie=e:

It's a baby Cadillac that has been shrunken even more. [smilie=a: <--------Hello, Doc. :D

The thing that you can't see in that caddy pic is the passenger side door is touching the steering wheel. Damn good thing no one was with you buddy.

Oh and if you are crashing a caddy. Always remember that the emergence exit is out the rear glass. Try and make it through before the roof comes down and stops you exit.
