Piston auction...

Another possible application for these pistons is to use them in a 0.090" over 318 block to turn your 318 into a 402.
Wow.

Punch a 318 that far, and you'll be trimming the inside of your core plugs. [smilie=e:

it is possible to do a .090 318 if it checks out OK after a sonic check.
But no LA motor will sonic-check out OK for that kind of overbore... none. No 273, no 318, no 340, no 360. If you've ever had a look-see at a vented LA cylinder, it's obvious why Mopar recommends .040" as max overbore on all LA engines. I know plenty of people go .060" but you're getting into cylinder-wall flex territory at that point. It'll run eternally, mind you, but you won't get as efficient a ring seal.

Now, Gary Pavlovich has a .090"-over stroker Poly motor (402 inches) with room left for a rebulid, but that's an entirely different kettle of fish. Poly engines weren't a thinwall design like the LA was from the outset.

And before anyone attempts to bring it up: the legend that early 360s were cast using 340 water-jacket cores is complete BS--so don't believe there's something magical about the '71-'73 360 blocks, either. They're no better than later castings... it's just an old seller's trick.
