'05 K1200LT in gold, the one pictured isn't mine but looks the same.

Been wanting a touring bike for some time and the time has come. We looked at and rode a Gold Wing a few weeks back and came away unimpressed. Wifey spotted a beemer that same day and liked it, but it was to much $$$. Same dealer just got in another one for less coin so last weekend I took it for a ride and immediately fell in love. What a spectacular machine!
This bike is sneaky fast as it is so smooth and quiet on the open road, found myself doing almost 90 and didn't even realize it. :D I have owned many bikes in the past but this beast is like nothing I've ever rode before, fabulous.
The list of options is long...
Heated seats and passenger backrest
Heated hand grips
Electronic cruise control
GPS (no more road maps to fumble around with!)
Power assist ABS brakes
AM/FM CD 8 speaker sound system W/ XM radio hookup
Additional driving and fog lights
Electrically adjustable windsheild
Retractable highway pegs (for stretching out on those long rides)
Hydraulic powered center stand. (This thing is fuggin cool, just push a button to deploy the center stand, no more wrestling the bike up on the stand)
Shelf under the windsheild for mounting radar detector.
Power outlets for heated vest ect..
There is probably more, that's all that comes to mind right now.....

I also purchased an extended warranty as these bikes are plenty expensive to fix should the need arise.
I expect to bring it home next weekend weather permitting and ride till the snow arrives........then mount a plow and snow tires and ride some more. :D

B, you will love it. My dad swears by them, and I have diddled with them a bit,,,,very nice. You will really enjoy it. Keep it clean and you will never have an issue with em, you can roll BIG miles onto them. Did I mention my daily car is a Bimmer? :D awesome choice! enjoy!!!

Well yes the red X's are for the road kills....;)[smilie=::

What about this one...can you see it??

tradin' in the crotch rocket or keeping both?

If you're not trading it, you might as well plan on selling it in the spring. You'll never want to ride it again.:shifty:

Keeping the rocket for now, should I decide to sell it I would do so in the spring or summer as to get the best price for it. Buying now is the way to go for the best deal as the dealers don't want 'em sittin around all winter, as a result I'm getting the Beemer for 3 grand under blue book. :)

Hey 68, still got your touring machine? We should hook up for a ride next season. I'm expecting to roll on a ton of miles on this bike, with fuel mileage in the high 40's to low 50's I should be able to afford to keep gas in it. :D

Dat's some prettyness right there.

Santa has been good to you, all I'm asking for this year is a little 125-250 enduro to ride to the shop and back next spring. If I can cut two field roads (with permission of course) it's only an 8 mile trip verses 10/11 in a car.

You likey the V fours dont'cha. :) What year is the Venture? Looks like a nice scoot. I almost bought a V-four Honda but got the Bandit instead. Perhaps someday I will get a V-max for fun, block long burnouts would be entertaining.:D

The Venture is an 86, the Magna is a V45 that I bought new in 82.

I'm in love with the V-engine design, it gives a perfect balance of smoothness, power & torque. ;)

The tach on the Magna goes up to 11k and I've run the needle waaaaay beyond that many times. . .. not always intentionally.

Todays the day! Barney and myself are heading out later this morning to fetch my new scoot. With temps in the 40's those heated grips and seat are gonna come in handy for the 70 mile ride home!

What a glorious machine! As we set out from the dealership it was 51 degrees and cloudy, a few miles down the road the seat and grips were warm and toasty and the chilly air was a non issue. Once out on the open highway I set the cruise control, cranked up the tunes and kicked back to enjoy the ride. About halfway home the sun came out and I had to kick the seat temp down to the low level as my buns were starting too cook.:D

Tomorrow we have very high winds forecasted for the area so I will most likely spend time in the garage pouring over the 4! owners manuals that came with the bike...I'll need to find one for the GPS as it is missing...that would make for a total of 5 manuals.
Those crazy Germans. :shifty:

beemer beeper, beeper beemer, now that the introductions are finished lets boot that Camaro out of here :D

good deal you got it home, that weather machine is set for cold and pointed our direction Tuesday.

Awesome beep! Now you will find out how much better those German machines REALLY are! :) ride safetly.....
