Allergy shot

I usually get it bad around this time of year, from the pollen. I’ve tried the over the counter pills and they either make me dead tired or feel like I have the flu (Claritin). I’m not effected from the plants I grow its from the trees and weeds and all that crap. Was wondering If anyone got a shot and how good it works. And does the doc have to do allergy tests on ya?

I don't know about the tests but I know my dad took them a few years ago. They seemed to work for him. I'm thinking of getting them myself due to my allergic reactions to random things [smilie=e:

X - My sister is allergic to everything on the planet. I'm sure she does the shots, but her allergies are so severe, that I'm not sure it makes much difference.

I was on em for a few years, to be honest it didn't seem to help much. I saw on the news that's there's something new in the works, probably take em 10 years to get through the fda but I'm eagerly awaiting myself!
I have zyrtec but when I get bad I always take benadryl, makes you tired but still works the best for me.

I had the tests done. they suck, some doctor poking your back 50 times. :( I found Sudafed(?) worked well for me. :)
April used to get the shots when she was a child...guess they worked, she is still here......

I've only had allergy symptons for about the last 5 years or so.

I never had them growing up.

The challenge for me now is that every year I seem to have different allergies and at different times of the year.

For that reason alone, I tend to stick to the over-the-counter stuff and just get it when I need it.

Benadryl always seems to be the best for me.

Same as DCF. Never HAD an allergy growing up. I quit smoking five months ago and everything under the sun makes me sneeze now. I do take benedryl on real serious days but a word of caution, It wrecks your kidneys if taken daily...

My wife uses one of the nasal sprays and it worked for me but I keep forgetting to ask my allergist! [smilie=e:

So you need a allergist for the spray too? I gotta go soon tried a few over the counter meds but bah, I need the good stuff [smilie=a:
